IMPACT STORY

Aaron, 34, is a farmer living with his wife and three children in a small Lahu village. The family primarily relies on cultivating rice and rubber trees and raising cattle for their livelihood. However, due to poor yields, Aaron joined an agro-fisheries technique exchange programme organised by CEDAR’s partner, hoping to increase his family’s income. During the programme, he developed a keen interest in fish farming. CEDAR’s partner encouraged Aaron to make use of an old fishpond on his farmland for aquaculture and provided funding to repair the pond and purchase fish fingerlings.

A few months later, Aaron’s family successfully raised the fish, which not only met their daily consumption needs but also allowed them to sell surplus fish, earning an additional income of approximately HK$4,500.

CEDAR’s partner was proud of their achievement and further encouraged Aaron’s family to become a model household in the village, sharing their knowledge and techniques in agro-fisheries to help improve the community’s quality of life.
