Zimbabwe

Most Zimbabweans are farmers who rely on subsistence farming. They constantly face the threat of drought, the turbulent economic and political environment, and the impact of the cost-of-living crisis. The World Bank estimates that half of the country’s population is in extreme poverty. Many people only have one or two meals a day.

In response to the country’s situation, we work with a local partner in the rural areas to help smallholder farmers learn conservation farming techniques, savings, and money management, enabling them to develop their livelihoods. Additionally, we advocate for gender equality in the southwest region, reducing gender-based violence, referring at-risk youth to government clinics for clinical health services, and providing legal support and referral services for women who have experienced gender-based violence.
